Mike Daly

Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practices

Mike Daly earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska, B.S. in Biology at Creighton University, Pharmacy Practice Residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and M.S. in Clinical Investigation at Washington University’s Clinical Research Training Center Postdoctoral Program. He was most recently pharmacy clinical manager at the SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. Prior to that, he was the assistant professor of pharmacy practice, St. Louis College of Pharmacy with a site as the internal medicine clinical pharmacist/faculty at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo. Mike is based at The Iowa Clinic Internal Medicine Clinic in West Des Moines.

Denise Hill

Associate Professor

Denise Hill brings over 20 years of legal, policy, and mediation experience to Drake, where she teaches in the Colleges of Business & Public Administration and Law. She is also licensed to practice law in Iowa and is an attorney/mediator with the Whitfield & Eddy law firm. Prior to joining the Drake MPA faculty, Denise was an associate professor appointed to the Colleges of Health Sciences, Medicine, and Pediatric Medicine at Des Moines University where she received multiple faculty awards, including MHA Professor of the Year. Denise previously practiced law at the Davis Brown Law firm, was an attorney/manager of public and regulatory affairs at the Iowa Medical Society, and was a state labor relations attorney. Denise received A.A. and B.A. degrees from Waldorf College as well as a J.D. and MPA from Drake University.

Alanah Mitchell

Associate Professor, Information Systems

Alanah Mitchell has a Ph.D. in Information Technology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to joining the Drake faculty in 2015, she was a faculty member at Appalachian State University. Her research focuses on the design, implementation, and use of information and communication technologies for collaboration, specifically in global virtual teams. Additionally, she researches in areas of e-commerce, analytics, and IS pedagogy.

Alanah Mitchell

Associate Professor, Information Systems

Alanah Mitchell has a Ph.D. in Information Technology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to joining the Drake faculty in 2015, she was a faculty member at Appalachian State University. Her research focuses on the design, implementation, and use of information and communication technologies for collaboration, specifically in global virtual teams. Hayden Smith

Adjunct Faculty

Hayden Smith earned his Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa and M.P.H from Tulane University. He has worked within academic centers and/or hospitals for more than 20 years and has more than 150 peer-reviewed/publish research papers and national/international conference abstracts. He currently serves as a Senior Research Scientist and associate faculty at UnityPoint Health – Des Moines as well as adjunct faculty at Drake University and is an adjunct clinical associate professor at University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. His interests include research/epidemiologic methods, biostatistics, causal inference, and machine learning.

Hayden Smith

Hayden Smith earned his Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa and M.P.H from Tulane University. Geoffrey Wall has extensive experience implementing and training on evidence-based practice. He serves as a clinical pharmacist for internal medicine and critical care at Iowa Methodist Medical Center (IMMC). In that role, he helped to establish multiple clinical pharmacy services and the IMMC pharmacy practice residency. He received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Utah and his Pharm.D. from the Idaho State University.

Geoffrey Wall

Elisabeth Welty

Elisabeth Welty, MPH, is an epidemiological analyst at the Jefferson County Department of Health located in Birmingham, Ala. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Samford University. She is a member of the Health Action Partnership of Jefferson County and provides data analysis, assessment, planning, grant writing, and reporting on health issues in Jefferson County. Elisabeth has authored the Jefferson County Department of Health Annual Report for the past 11 years in addition to multiple research publications.
