Program Director
Julia Steggerda-Corey is the Program Director for the Compliance and Risk Management program. This program includes the Masters of Jurisprudence in Compliance and Risk Management, a LL.M. program in Compliance and Risk Management, and a J.D. Certificate in Compliance and Risk Management. She is an Instructor of Law teaching Legal Writing at Drake Law School. Before joining the faculty at Drake Law School, Julia worked as an Associate Attorney in the Business Litigation division of Faegre Baker Daniels (n/k/a Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP). Julia received her B.A. from Pepperdine University and her J.D. and LL.M. from Drake University Law School.

Doug J. Bujakowski, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Actuarial Science and Risk Management, College of Business & Public Administration
Doug Bujakowski received his Ph.D. in Risk and Insurance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His research interests include insurance market development, law and economics, and longitudinal and spatial modeling. He is currently pursuing research that seeks to understand the evolution and management of risks in emerging economies.
In the fall of 2017, Doug joined the faculty at Drake University as an Assistant Professor of Actuarial Science. He teaches undergraduate courses in mathematical statistics and a graduate course in operational risk management.

J. Royce Fichtner, J.D.
Ellis and Nelle Levitt Distinguished Professor of Business Law, College of Business & Public Administration
Royce Fichtner graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and worked in retail management at Kohl’s Department Stores and Old Navy Clothing Stores. He graduated from law school at Drake University and worked for the Iowa Supreme Court and the Iowa Court of Appeals. He also spent time in private practice at a small firm in central Iowa. In the fall of 2008, he became a full-time faculty member at Drake University in the College of Business and Public Administration.

Denise M. Hill, JD, MPA
Associate Professor of Practice in Public Administration, College of Business & Public Administration
Associate Professor Denise Hill, JD, MPA brings over 20 years of legal, policy and mediation experience to Drake, where teaches in the Colleges of Business and Public Administration and Law. Denise is also licensed to practice law in Iowa and is an Attorney/Mediator with the Whitfield and Eddy law firm.
Prior to joining the Drake MPA faculty, Denise was an Associate Professor appointed to the Colleges of Health Sciences, Medicine and Podiatric Medicine at Des Moines University where she received multiple faculty awards, including MHA Professor of the Year. Denise previously practiced law at the Davis Brown Law firm, was an Attorney/Manager of Public and Regulatory Affairs at the Iowa Medical Society, and was a State Labor Relations Attorney.
Denise maintains an active presence in the healthcare, legal, nonprofit and academic communities. A sought after speaker, writer, and media commentator; she was selected as a national health law expert for the 30th anniversary edition of the Health Law Handbook. Her article “Patient-Centered Compliance in a World of Pain” addresses legal compliance issues for pain management and opioids. Denise is also co-author of the text “Powerful Learning Communities.”

A graduate of Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, and Duke University, summa cum laude, he worked as a transactional attorney at a couple of law firms and has served as a subject matter expert for and taught a variety of online graduate-level law courses.

Miriam is a senior Compliance professional and attorney with over 15+ years of experience. Her areas of expertise include Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”), KYC, Ethics, Bribery, FCPA, Risk Management, and miscellaneous Examination/ Audit issues. She is currently the Head of Ethics and Compliance for a global energy storage technology solutions and services company. Miriam is also an Adjunct Professor of Business Law at New Jersey Institute of Technology. She holds a B.A. and J.D. from Rutgers University.
