  • Master of Arts in Communication

    Advance your career in the fast-paced communications industry with a master’s degree from Drake’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

    To apply for admission to our fully online Master of Arts in Communication program: 

    • Complete the online application.
    • Submit your official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities. Official transcripts are prepared and sent by the institution in question and received by Drake University in a sealed envelope. Transcripts mailed directly to the student must remain in the sealed envelope to be considered.

    • Submit contact information for two professional recommendations.
    • Submit a short statement about your goals for completing this program.

    For students with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.25 to 2.49, applicants are required to submit official scores from one of the following exams:

    • Graduate Record Exam (Minimum test score: 500 Composition)
    • Graduate Management Admission Test (Minimum test score: 450 Each Section)
    • Miller Analogies Test (Minimum test score: 389)

    Test scores are valid for 5 years.

    International Students
    If a student earned her/his undergraduate degree outside of the United States, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required. Scores dated within the last two years are acceptable and must be reported directly from the testing agency. Minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 213 on the computer-based exam, 550 on the paper-based exam, or 79-80 on the Internet-based exam. Minimum acceptable IELTS score is 6.5. Minimum scores on each section of reading, writing, speaking and listening may be required.

    Transfer Credits
    Students may transfer a maximum of nine credit hours in graduate coursework from another accredited institution or from another Drake academic unit. All transfer credits must be earned with a grade of at least a “B-” and within five years prior to completing the Master of Arts in Communication degree. Common transfer credits could include core MBA courses or graduate English courses.

  • Master of Business Administration

    Become a competitive player in the marketplace with a Master of Business Administration degree from Drake’s College of Business & Public Administration.

    To apply for admission to Drake’s fully online Master of Business Administration program:

    • Complete the online application.
    • Submit your official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities. Official transcripts are prepared and sent by the institution in question and received by Drake University in a sealed envelope. Transcripts mailed directly to the student must remain in the sealed envelope to be considered.

    Entrance Exam Waiver
    The entrance exam is automatically waived if you meet one of the three conditions below.

    • You are a Drake University CBPA undergraduate alumnus from within the last five years and have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
    • You are a Drake University CBPA current undergraduate student with cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have completed 90 semester credits.
    • You hold a master’s or terminal degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from a U.S. regionally accredited institution.

    You may apply for an entrance exam waiver if you meet all of the conditions below. Your waiver request will be reviewed by the graduate committee before approval is granted.

    • You have five years of progressive post-graduate work experience.
      • You must include an essay with your application detailing your progressive work experience.
    • You have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher from a U.S. regionally accredited institution.
    • You have least 9 semester credits of undergraduate quantitative coursework.
      • Quantitative coursework may include courses in math, statistics, economics or other quantitative oriented courses.

    You may apply for an entrance exam waiver as a Pre-MBA student if you meet all the conditions below. Your waiver request will be reviewed by the graduate committee before approval is granted.

    • You have five years of progressive post-graduate work experience.
      • You must include an essay with your application detailing your progressive work experience.
    • You have a minimum 3.0 GPA in two Pre-Admission courses, including a B or better in MBA 245: Leading with Data.
      • Grades of C+ (2.30) or below are not eligible for the entrance exam waiver.

    International Students
    If a student earned her/his undergraduate degree outside of the United States, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required. Scores dated within the last two years are acceptable and must be reported directly from the testing agency. Minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 213 on the computer-based exam, 550 on the paper-based exam, or 79-80 on the Internet-based exam. Minimum acceptable IELTS score is 6.5. Minimum scores on each section of reading, writing, speaking, and listening may be required.

All transfer credits must be earned with a grade of B- or higher, must directly relate to the program of study, and must fall within the five-year time frame for program completion. Transfer credits will be applied to the degree program upon successful completion of at least one term of enrollment in the program.

    Non-Degree Admission
    The Pre-MBA program is for students looking to take classes for personal enrichment or to qualify for an entrance exam waiver into Drake’s Master of Business Administration degree program.

    Students interested in applying for the Pre-MBA must submit the following:

    • Complete the Graduate Pre-Admission Application.
    • Submit electronic copy of your résumé.
    • Submit unofficial transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities.

    Pre-MBA students are allowed to complete the following MBA core courses:

    • MBA 240: Corporate Governance and Ethics
    • MBA 245: Leading with Data
    • MBA 242: Financial Reporting and Analysis (MBA 240 and MBA 245 are recommended prerequisites)

    Once admitted into Drake’s Master of Business Administration program, all successfully completed Pre-MBA courses will transfer.

  • Master of Data Analytics Leadership

    Take on a crucial role in any business as a data-driven leader with the Master of Data Analytics Leadership degree from Drake’s College of Business & Public Administration.

    To apply for admission to Drake’s fully online data analytics leadership program:

    • Complete the online application.
    • Submit your official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities.     A Certificate in Data Analytics can be achieved by taking the five core MDAL courses.  The certificate is not transcripted (no degree awarded) and students are not eligible for financial aid (non-degree seeking).

  • Master of Public Administration

    Acquire the skills needed to lead public, government and nonprofit agencies with a Master of Public Administration degree from Drake’s College of Business & Public Administration.

    To apply for admission to Drake’s fully online Master of Public Administration program:

    • Complete the online application.
    • Submit your official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities. Official transcripts are prepared and sent by the institution in question and received by Drake University in a sealed envelope.     Non-Degree Admission
    The Pre-MPA program is for students looking to take classes for personal enrichment or to meet pre-acceptance requirements for entry into Drake’s Master of Public Administration degree program.

    Students interested in applying for the Pre-MPA must submit the following:

    • Submit unofficial transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities.

    • MPA 226: Public Policy Decision Making & Analysis

    Once admitted into Drake’s Master of Public Administration program, all successfully completed Pre-MPA courses will transfer.

  • Master of Science in Education

    As the needs of students change and classrooms become more diverse, the demand for teachers who are experts in understanding and addressing students’ unique needs has never been greater.

    Admittance to a School of Education graduate program requires successful completion of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.     Students may be eligible to complete six to seven credit hours before being admitted to a program. Please contact an enrollment specialist for more information.
