Steve Parrish is the Interim Director for the Compliance and Risk Management Program at Drake University Law School, where he also serves as an Adjunct Professor. With 40 years’ experience as an attorney and financial planner, Parrish frequently addresses the challenges of businesses, business owners and executives nationwide.

Parrish is a recognized industry authority, spokesperson, and author serving as an Associate Editor and ongoing columnist for the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. He has also served as an expert source for such prominent media outlets as InvestmentNews, MarketWatch, Wall Street Journal Radio, HR Magazine, U.S. News & World Report, and the Journal of Financial Planning.

Parrish was employed at The Principal Financial Group from February 1997 until June 2015 and began teaching at Drake University in 2015. Prior to that, he served as Vice President, Marketing Services for Amerus Life Insurance Company. He began his career as an attorney and advanced sales director in Minneapolis. He became a financial planner and agent in Atlanta, where he was a co-owner of Walker Parrish Financial Group.

Cathy Lesser Mansfield is the Program Director for the Compliance and Risk Management program. She began teaching at Drake University’s Law School in 1996 and has also taught at Georgetown university Law Center and Washburn University School of Law. Other professional experience includes working with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Washington, D.C., Americans for Fairness in lending in Boston, Community Legal Services at the Urban Indian Law Office in Phoenix, and Brown & Bain law firm (also in Phoenix).

Her areas of expertise include consumer law, payment systems, contracts, sales, and the Holocaust and the law. She has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Banking and Financial Services and before the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She has also lectured nationally on consumer protection and been quoted in the New York Times and Consumer Reports.
